Looking for things to do in the Lake Region this summer? As proud locals who grew up here, we've got you covered with some of our favorites!

Lake Wally What?
As our sign says, 52 miles of shoreline, 13 miles long and yes, 60 feet deep. Lake Wallenpaupack lives up to its nickname as the "Big Lake."
Built in 1926, man-made Lake Wallenpaupack is now one of the most popular Pocono Mountain attractions. Nestled in the beautiful landscape of Northeast Pennsylvania, the lake is home to many great restaurants, shopping, family fun activities and much more.
Relax, unwind, have some fun.
The Great Outdoors

Whether it be hiking, boating or fishing, Lake Wallenpaupack offers one of a kind outdoor adventures for the entire family. Take your kayak (something we like to do) and cruise the Big Lake or one of the many smaller bodies of water in the region. More of a motor boat person? Don't own one yourself? Not a problem. Many local marinas rent boats in the summer months.
Fishing... lots and lots of fishing. Lake Wallenpaupack is well known for its great freshwater fishing. Whether it be by boat or along the 52 miles of shoreline, you are pretty much guaranteed to snag a nice catch. Looking for a little help from a local fishing guide? We suggest using Gizzard's Guide Service, LLC. Check them out on Facebook and Instagram.
Whether it be an expert hike or short walk, the region has trails for everybody. Check out Lacawac Sanctuary which has 9 miles of hiking trails open to the public, free of charge, from dawn to dusk year-round. Not only do many of the trails lead to the Big Lake itself, but several will bring you to the sanctuary's very own 52-acre, pristine glacial lake, Lake Lacawac.
There's also the Wallenpaupack Lake Trail and Wallenpaupack Creek Trail if you're looking for a light leisurely stroll. Located near many local restaurants and lodging destinations, these trails offer breathtaking views of Lake Wallenpaupack. We suggest taking in the beautiful summer sunset.

Not just views...
There's plenty of Food and Brews

Just off shore you'll find several restaurants to grab a great local bite. What do we recommend? If you're in Downtown Hawley, a must have is our absolute favorite, The Ridge. Located in the historic Hotel Belvidere, you'll suddenly find yourself in Nonna's kitchen. Serving the finest homemade Italian cuisine in the area, The Ridge and its owners, the Rossitto Family, truly make you feel like you’re sitting around their dinner table. We suggest trying their Sunday Sauce - absolutely to die for.

Hitting the links for a round of golf should end with a great meal. Paupack Hills offers a tremendous golf course along with equally as good food in their restaurant On the Green Bar & Grille. Even if you’re not playing that day, bring the family for a waterfront meal overlooking the course. https://paupackhills.com
The Poconos are home to many small-town breweries. Two of the very best are located right here in the Lake Region. Walk into the Wallenpaupack Brewing Co. and you'll find not only GREAT local brews, but also equally great food. Their "No Wake Zone" is our summer beer choice. As for the menu, try the BBQ. We're a sucker for the brisket.

Just down the street you'll find the Hopping Eagle Brewing Co. Enjoy another classically good local brew with tremendous small-town atmosphere. Located in the Hawley Silk Mill, you're just footsteps away from local shops and waterfall views of the Wallenpaupack Creek. If you're lucky, you'll run into their brew pup Bodhi.

Shop Until You Drop
Hey, we like to shop. So what?

The Hawley Silk Mill has shopping for everyone. Built in 1880 and operated as an actual silk mill, the building is now a bustling hub for small business. The national historic landmark is home to a coffee shop, gym, salons, and even a local college.
But the shops are where you'll get lost. Enjoy boutique style shopping like never before. Children's apparel, bath and body, home decor and candles are just some of the many products you'll find. You'll find official Alexa, Make Me Something products exclusively in Lake Lights Candles along with their amazing scented candles and home decor (and so much more). Walk-in at the right time and you might see a batch of candles being made on-site!
If you love yourself some antiques, you might want to walk thru Downtown Hawley. We like to call it a local antique paradise.
The Must See, Must Do Events
Alright, so, there's always something to see and do in the summer on Lake Wallenpaupack. We'll give you a couple of our favorite.

Since 1975, the Lake Wallenpaupack 4th of July Fireworks is an event that many look forward to every year. Tie up your boat or watch from land as these fireworks light up sky and lake. Truly a breathtaking display.

Self described as a "community wide festival designed to help summer last a little longer in Hawley," Wally Lake Fest brings locals and tourists alike together for an action packed weekend. You'll find local venders, special deals, live music (even some on the lake itself), fairs and so much more. This year's festival will take place August 27, 2021 - August 29, 2021.
